Our Speech & Hearing department is dedicated to provide comprehensive services for individuals experiencing speech and hearing challenges. Our speech-language pathology and audiology professionals are highly skilled and experienced including support staff committed in improving communication and auditory function for patients of all ages.

Capabilities

Our department is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and specialized facilities to ensure audiology consultation, assessments, diagnosis, early identification, intervention and rehabilitation. Our capabilities include:

  • AUDIOLOGY SERVICES: Our department is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and specialized facilities to ensure audiology consultation, assessment, diagnosis, early identification, intervention and rehabilitation. Our services include:
    • Audiological Evaluations: Various hearing tests are done in well-built spacious acoustic sounf treated rooms.
    • Pure Tone Audiometry: This is the standard test for hearing which identifies the degree and types of hearing impairment. Performed in two room set-up.
    • Speech Audiometry: Test to understand and distinguish different words when you hear them and also to find out how loud speech needs to be for you to hear clear.
    • Special Test (SISI, TONE DECAY, STAT, ABLB): These test helps to identify the site of lesion (cochlear and retro-cochlear).
    • Tympanometry Test: A unique test that identifies the middle ear conditions and also determines how well the ear drum moves and transfer sound.
    • Acoustic Reflex Test: It is a technique for used for differential diagnosis for different middle ear, cochlear and retro cochlear disorders using loud sound and measuring the change in compliance through tympanometry probe.
    • Auditory Evoked Brainstem Response (ABR): Computerized test for children and adult who cannot respond well to sound stimulus subjectively and also for malingers. Gold standard test for early identification of hearing loss in children at early age and takes around two hours to complete.
    • Oto-acoustic Emissions (OAE): Test used to find out how well your inner ear and cochlea hair cells works.
    • Speech in Noise Test (SPIN): Test to rule out how clear an individual understand speech in noisy environments.
    • Free field Audiometry: Test in which sound is presented via speakers to detect unaided and aided threshold in hearing aid users and also to find out hearing threshold in children and patients who cannot wear head phones for PTA test.

     

    • Hearing Rehabilitations:
    • Hearing Aid trial and fitting: We provide expertise in hearing aid trial, fitting, adjustment and maintenances as well as counseling on hearing aid use and care.
    • Tinnitus Therapy: Tinnitus re-training therapy/ sound therapy to the tinnitus patients suffering from ringing and hissing in the ear.
    • Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) Assessment and Treatment: Evaluating and providing interventions for individuals experiencing difficulties processing auditory information.
    • Cochlear Implant Services: We provide evaluation, counseling and rehabilitation services for individuals considering or using cochlear implants.
    • Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs): Planning, recommending and providing guidance on the use of ALDs to improve communication in various environments

     

    SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES

    Our department provide wide range of speech and language assessment diagnosis and treatment to the children and adult patients. Speech and language therapy to the various disorders like articulation, voice, fluency, language and swallowing.

    • Comprehensive Speech and Language Assessments: Detail evaluations to assess speech, language, and communication abilities of the individuals having speech and language disorders. Special tools and materials are used to evaluate the severity of disorders.
    • Speech Therapy: Depending upon the diagnosis and need of the individual speech therapy sessions are planned to treat the individual suffering from voice, articulation and fluency disorders.
    • Language Therapy: Developing interventions to enhance language development, comprehension and expression in individuals with language disorders mainly in children and stroke patients.
    • Voice Therapy: Evaluation and treatment for individuals experiencing voice disorders, including vocal nodules, vocal polyps, paralysis, puberphonia (high pitch voice) and functional dysphonia.
    • Fluency Therapy: Individuals having difficulty in producing fluent speech like stuttering and cluttering are evaluated and treated. Pauses, repetition, interjections prolongations of speech sounds are treated with the help of fluency therapy.
    • Articulation Therapy- Unclear speech sound and faulty production are treated with the help of articulation therapy.
    • Communication Skills Training: Programs to enhance overall communication skills, including social communication and pragmatic language.

 

  • SWALLOWING SERVICES
  • Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia) Therapy: Our Specialist provide assessment and therapy for individuals experiencing difficulties with swallowing. In order to diagnose and treat oral and pharyngeal dysphagia, speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are the preferred providers of dysphagia treatments. SLPs are also essential members of an inter-professional team. SLPs also recognize causes and signs/symptoms of esophageal dysphagia and make appropriate referrals for its diagnosis and therapy. The main goals of dysphagia intervention may include bolus consistency modification, postural concerns, swallowing exercises, and patient and caregiver education.

 

  • Counselling: We provide expert counselling related to hearing and speech-language disorders. Our Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist professionals are highly experienced and can help the individuals and parents to decide and follow the proper treatment. Expert counselling on hearing aid, cochlear implant, and noise induced hearing loss (NIHL), tinnitus, vertigo, voice preservation, speech and language developmental and acquired difficulties. We also provide hearing and speech consultation whenever and whoever needed. Counselling aims to help the individuals seeking specialized care to improve their speech and hearing abilities.
